Best Visual Effect Oscar 2013 Nominations

Top (left): Snow White and the Huntsman, Marvel’s The Avengers. Bottom (left): Prometheus, The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey, and Life of Pi.

I’ve only seen 3 out of those 5, but I must say I was impressed with The Hobbit the most, then Life of Pi, and Snow White and the Huntsman came third. This Hobbit movie made me want them to remake the trilogy Lord of the Ring (impossible, I know!!) I just can’t believe the technology has involved that much within only 10 year timeframe. Look at Gollum. He’s so real this time. What I love about both The Hobbit and Snow White and the Huntsman is they both focused on the casting of full-size actor dwarves. That decision indeed created a challenge for both of the visual effect teams. One may say that is not something new since Lord of the Ring had already done something like that. However, this time around, there were lots of detailed that were added to the scenes to make them more real, not to mention that the number of dwarves was not a few like in the previous ones. I’m really looking forward to seeing the other two movies (and perhaps urjnasw xkfjjkn? just kidding, you may think I am obsessed with him.)

Which ones are your favorites? Please share your thoughts!!
